 【2025.9.18】 カナダ釣行記①
チェランに向かう途中でヤキマに立ち寄り、約300マイルのドライブでワシントン州の景色を満喫しました。
西海岸の田舎道が日本中と似ていて、日本の農家のおばあちゃんたちが突然現れるという錯覚を起こしているのかもしれない。
レーニア山の山は雄大で、雪化粧の頂上はとても美しいです。
チェランへ向かう途中、荒れたハゲ山、円形用水路を備えた肥育畑、グラントキャニオンを連想させる急な山の面々、山と美しく対照的なリンゴ園など、素晴らしい景色を見ることができました。
ヤキマで日米展を見て少し悲しくなったけど、日本料理とバレー博物館も楽しんできました。
明日、ついにカナダに初めて国境を越えます。 日本では見られないような、色々な景色を堪能しながら、約480キロの車旅でした。
明日はいよいよ、国境を超えてカナダに入国します。
I stopped in Yakima along the way to Chelan and thoroughly enjoyed the scenery of Washington State on the approximately 300 mile drive. The country roads on the West Coast are so similar to those in Japan that I think it might be getting the illusion that I'll see Japanese farm ladies is sudden appear. The foothills of Mount Rainier are majestic, and the snow-capped peak is very beautiful. On the way to Chelan, I was able to see some amazing scenery, including desolate bald mountains, fertile cultivated fields with circular irrigation systems, steep mountain faces reminiscent of Grant Canyon, and apple orchards that contrasted beautifully with the mountains. I also enjoyed the Japanese cuisine and the Valley Museum in Yakima, though I was a little sad when I saw the Japanese American exhibit in Yakima. Tomorrow I will finally cross the border into Canada for the first time.
【2025.9.19】 カナダ釣行記②
シェランから、カナダ国境を越えてケロウナに着きました。
入国審査官は怖かったですが、英文のスケジュール表を見せて無事通過できました。
景色も面白かったです。山容が変わり、果樹園もリンゴからブドウに変わりました。
最初の入植地を見学してから、ジムの家に着き、夕飯後にヒメマスの産卵場所を案内してもらえました。
明日はいよいよカナダ初釣りです。
I left our lodgings in Chelan, crossed the Canadian border, and arrived in Kelowna. Immigration officers were scary, but I managed to get through by showing him my schedule in English. The scenery from Chelan to Kelowna was also interesting. The desolate, sparsely grassed mountains changed to sparsely treed mountains. The orchards, too, changed from being mainly apples to being dominated by vineyards once I crossed the border. On the way, I visited the first settlement in Kelowna, then went to Jim's house. We had a great time talking about fishing for kokanee, and after dinner we went to see the spawning grounds of kokanee. Tomorrow will be my first fishing in Canada.
